Today we woke up at 05:45 hours to our breakfast lying out on the table…Mars bars and Kit Kats. Once we were all packed up, we started our tramping trip all the way down Brewster. It was a long, steep tramp which took a lot of caution. We followed the stairway of roots all the way to the bottom. I think it’s safe to say everyone left with a little extra mud on their shorts.
We got to the bottom in about two hours, tramped through the river and into the vans. Our group arrived at the base camp four hours earlier than the other team, so we got nice and clean before our six-hour ride to Christchurch, where we arrived at 23:00 hours.
For our last night, all the cadets hung out until the early hours and had some good bonding time before we went to bed in preparation for our long day’s travel back to Canada.

Aujourd’hui le réveil s’est fait à 05h45 à la vue de notre petit déjeuner sur la table. Des barres de chocolat Mars et KitKat. Une fois tous chargés, nos sommes partis en marche jusqu’à Brewster. Il s’agissait d’une longue et abrupte randonnée qui a demandé de faire très attention. Nous avons suivi un escalier de racines tout le long de notre descente. Comme vous l’imaginez, tous se sont ramassé avec une bonne quantité de boue sur les pantalons.
Notre descente a duré environ deux heures, à travers une rivière et dans nos camions. Notre groupe est arrivé au camp de base quatre heures avant l’autre équipe, ce qui nous a permis de se nettoyer avant de partir en camion pour six heures jusqu’à Christchurch, où nous sommes arrivés à 23h00.
Pour notre dernière soirée, tous les cadets sont demeurés en groupe et ont fraternisé jusqu’aux petites heures avant d’aller se coucher en préparation pour le long voyage de retour au Canada.
